Problem DescriptionSelect a card from the displayed playing cards, but do NOT point the mouse to it. Instead speak the name of the selected card into your speakers, and this program will remove it from the display. Accuracy has been proven to be nearly 100%! Download the the program and try it for yourself. Background & TechniquesDue to recent advances, it's now possible to sense the vibrations caused by the human voice as the sound impacts the speakers attached to your PC. The induced currents feed back through the sound card and can be detected. Any output sounds are then subtracted and the result fed into a small speech-to-text digital signal processor capable of recognizing a limited vocabulary. Or --- it might just be a trick. The graphical Card component introduced back in Cards #2 is used to create the card images. The panels used for displays overlap each other on the screen. At design time you can right click and select "Send to back" to view the hidden panels. I'm sure you will understand that I really can't discuss more about the program here without revealing trade secrets. You'll just have to check it out for yourself. Running/Exploring the ProgramSuggestions for Further ExplorationsAdditional error screens could be displayed advising the user about techniques to improve recognition accuracy, perhaps two or three like the following: ("Speak louder", "Speak slower", "Speak in a higher pitch please", "Try tilting your head to the left", "Nasal voices are easier to recognize, try holding your nose", etc.) Modified: November 07, 2008 |
